Right now the only Deathrock bands I listen to are Horror Vacui, Nox Novacula, Alien Sex Fiend, Cemetery Sex maybe Lathe Of Heaven is considered Deathrock?

What are some Deathrock bands you guys like I like a lot of the same general vibes as the bands I listed.

Hey all! Today I was pursuing my copy of Goth: Identity, Style, and Subculture by Paul Hodkinson, published in 2002. It's an ethnographic study he did as part of his PhD, based on surveying folks at Whitby Gothic Weekend in 1997. Towards the back, this table caught my attention and made me curious about several things.

Now, this sample size is very wee relatively speaking, so I'm not sure about the veracity of this data. But still, it's curious to me that things like thrift/charity shops/hand-me-downs aren't explicitly called out here, with how much people emphasize this method of building out your wardrobe these days. Is it possible that secondhand clothing could be rolled into the first category? Near where I live, there are goth-oriented flea markets where people set up tables for secondhand clothes, which is why I wonder.

Additionally, the segment accounting for DIY is tiny. More people seem to not bother with the clothing at all, rather than make it by hand. And to that point, I don't know if "handmade" is meant to indicate completely making something from scratch or modifying something pre-existing.

Any opinions of any sort on this are welcome. Especially if you remember this festival from around this time period. And if you know of any sources of more updated information, I'm very interested in that.

Some albums that I am most proud to own! I am especially proud to own the UK Decay CD, given how rare it is and I think that they are one of the most important bands in the goth scene, they really do not get enough recognition for being some of the very first. There's lots of other stuff I want to get, but just don't have the time or money for D: !! I'm very grateful to have what I have however <3

Hi i live in a small town, not many goth gigs but last week I got to help out with hair and makeup and also created some kind of flesh sculpture for two shows so I thought id dress appropriately to attend.

So, Im a 19 year old dude and I absolutely LOVE Siouxie and the Banshees, especially Siouxie

Siouxie is a very important person for me, I was in a really really hard Phase and I was insanely sad and frustrated the entire time. Music and walking through some unknown locations in my Area helped me a lot, but Siouxie just made my life unironicaly better. I heard Juju, over and over and her music made me so fucking happy. I woke up and danced to her music the entire day and it really helped me mentally. Im now in a better mental state and I think she is a big part of that.

So….why do I wanna hear motivation?

I really want to Look like her, thats it. I dont think im a really attractive person but I think I can finally learn to love myself if I look like the person that made me happier. I want my hair to Look like her Bats nest in the 80s and I want to wear Makeup like she has around her eyes.

LONG STORY SHORT:

I have a massive social anxiety and I am scared that people make fun of me, laugh at me or even worse, beat me up. I live in Germany, Saxony to be exact and we have a big Rightwing Problem here. And I have friends that had veeery Bad experiences with these people.

But I shouldnt let these ignorant people rule over my life! I know that!

Even my friends Support me and I still am too scared. What should I do? I appreciate some nice comments, because that is all I need. If you got any Questions than I will answer it.

• Bonus Question: My SO says that a bats nest really hurts to comb if I want back my normal haircut, is that true?

I'm actually a raw black metal fan but I've listened to all of their songs and they're all perfect and I think they're goth. So, can you recommend me some more bands like them?
